After relocating to a new state, Michael found himself facing several challenges as he worked to rebuild his career.
Years of physically demanding manufacturing work had taken a toll, leaving him with ongoing pain and uncertainty about what type of work would be the right fit for his future. At the same time, navigating new technology, specifically the Applicant Tracking Systems, and online job applications had become increasingly frustrating.
Without a clear career target, Michael was applying to as many as 30 jobs a day. But despite his efforts, the results weren’t what he had hoped for.
That’s where career coaching helped him take a different approach.
With encouragement and guidance from his Christian HELP career coach, Michael began focusing his job search and looking more closely at his skills, experience, and career goals. Instead of simply applying to as many positions as possible, he began developing a more intentional employment strategy.
As part of that process, Michael earned a Food Service Certification and updated his resume to better showcase the transferable skills he had developed throughout his career. With each step, he gained greater clarity and confidence in his ability to move into a new field.
That preparation opened the door to a new opportunity.
Today, Michael is employed in Food Services with Southeastern College, working in a career path that better aligns with his abilities and goals.
His journey is a reminder that sometimes finding the right job begins with stepping back, identifying what you bring to the table, and creating a plan for moving forward.
Through career coaching, skills development, resume support, and encouragement, Christian HELP helps individuals navigate employment barriers and take meaningful steps toward greater career stability.
A new career direction can begin with one step.
