He stood tall with great posture, but you could see in his eyes he was struggling. Not just for food but for something more.

He came to us for the first time to ask for food assistance for himself and his household. He stood tall with great posture, but you could see in his eyes he was struggling. Not just for food but for something more. To encourage him, I invited him into conversation with a smile as he began his paperwork to become a client. When I asked about his employment status, he slowly revealed pieces of his story.  He was just two weeks from starting a new job because at his last one, the pay was sporadic and unreliable.

He had great experience leading teams for many years in Sales environments, then changed to another industry only to find that wasn’t reliable or fulfilling. He recently accepted another new position to bring in some money but expressed that he was feeling much like he did when he first left the military and was struggling to find his place, purpose and meaning in work.  We offered to help.

Two days after our encounter, he sent a thank you note expressing that we had EXCEEDED his EXPECTATIONS with food, and he attached his resume. We are pleased to give him groceries for 6-months along with the coaching he needs to find the RIGHT work that will help improve his income and fulfill his purpose.
