“I thought I would have an easy transition into the workforce with my track record of success.”

That did not prove to be the case.

Joanne came to Christian HELP with a lot of experience in higher education. She told us that “I thought I would have an easy transition into the workforce with my track record of success.”
That did not prove to be the case.
By the time Joanne came to us, she had already applied for over 150 positions! She was persistent, for sure, but also growing frustrated.
We assigned one of our care managers, Jeff, to work with her on updating her resume. Joanne came to realize that the way she went about applying for jobs back home in England did not work in America.
Jeff and Joanne revised her resume with a reorganized list of her skills. Jeff helped her tailor the resume to various positions she was clearly qualified to apply for. Jeff even encouraged her to get a new email address, dropping AOL for Google.

This is where the tide turned for Joanne.
She started getting calls from companies for phone interviews after applying the changes she made working with Jeff. The rejections still came, but Jeff kept Joanne feeling upbeat. “He helped me keep my eye on the end-goal of getting a job that matched my skills and abilities.”

Then, success!
Joanne told us that she got an offer as a Director of Human Resources. She is excited about the new opportunity and grateful to Christian HELP for what we did to get her on track. Joanne is thankful that an organization like Christian HELP is out there to serve our community.

She says, “Thank you all for providing the support and the assistance.”
Now, Joanne hopes to give back to Christian HELP by hiring other clients who are looking for jobs.
