Societal issues such as poverty (42% of Central Florida), affordable housing, sex trafficking and homelessness are causes which many of us are passionate about. We want to make a difference. We want to show goodwill to our fellow man. We want our philanthropic dollars to have an impact.
3 Questions to ask when considering donating to a charity.
1.     Am I passionate about this need in my community?
If this topic does not light a fire under you and make you want to advocate for it, move on and find out what does.
2.     Is there evidence of transformational impact?
Require evidence of population served, how they were served and what are the long term outcomes.
3.     Is this charity’s infrastructure equipped to efficiently and effectively serve this need?
Measure this by observing their programs, services and communications. Overhead costs should be at a percentage where the nonprofit can invest in technology, innovation and offer attractive salary packages to attract the best of the best to address critical social needs.
